Greenbox is very clear on its responsibilities to our team, to our clients and to the planet. We are very aware that we must remain on top of the ever-evolving landscape of compliance so our clients can have peace of mind when engaging us.

Please take a few moments to review some of our commitments.

Community Work

Greenbox is an amazing group of community-minded people. Greenbox supports our people’s drive by paying each team member to do two days of charity work per year.

Amongst the team, we have treasurers of body corporates, surf awareness teachers at Surf Lifesaving Clubs, presenters at high school Career Insight Evenings and others who mentor women in the construction industry, charity fundraisers, blood donors, beach and general litter cleaners, pawrents of rescue dogs, foster pawrents to dogs and animal rescue, gardeners and maintenance people at community centres, deliverers of food to shelters, Little Free Library owners, virtual walk club organisers, those who provide financial support and care such as weekly shopping and day-to-day duties to their extended families and givers of English conversation classes.

In 2023, many of our team supported the 5K a day for the Sanfilippo Children’s Foundation. The foundation is researching a cure for Sanfilippo Syndrome, a devastating form of childhood dementia where most children afflicted with the illness do not reach adulthood.

We also participated in a construction industry event in 2023 to raise funds for the Black Dog Institute. Greenbox has contributed generously to this event since our inception in 2009.

In 2024, we continue to make generous contributions – most recently to an industry charity cycling event raising funds for Boys to the Bush, as well as hosting our own fundraiser to support those affected by the Brazilian floods.

All Greenboxers give their time voluntarily and enthusiastically. We are so proud of our outstanding Team!

Pro Bono Services

We are always open to our Team’s proposals to provide pro bono services to causes that are important to them.

We recently supported Greyhound Rescue to design a purpose-built facility, a benchmark in animal rescue and rehabilitation.

Greenbox were also pleased to recently provide design services to establish the new offices for Sanfilippo Children’s Foundation.

Our current design project is a bag storage solution for Harbord OOSH, where our imaginations are running wild with fun colours and shapes to inspire the mini minds we serve.

Our Team loves helping others.

Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is authentic and proven.

Our team of ~70 speaks 30 languages and come from 27 countries and 5 out of 7 continents.

We believe that diversity not only contributes to a more equitable society, but richer outcomes for Greenbox, our clients and the community.

We are very proud of our recent shortlisting with the Australian Financial Review for Best Places to Work. It followed hot on the tail of our shortlisting with the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) for the Best in Practice Prize. This Prize recognises excellence in practice culture, with a focus on the development of supportive and inclusive workplaces and contributing to the overall success and elevation of a positive workplace culture in Architecture. Greenbox was one of only three practices shortlisted in our business category.

Greenbox takes our environmental responsibility seriously.

We are taking proactive measures to do our bit both as an organisation, and as individuals.

In order to help fight the climate crisis, Greenbox has been a member of Architects Declare since early 2020. Architects Declare is an international network of architectural practices committed to addressing climate and the biodiversity emergency.

Additionally, we also successfully achieved our goal of becoming a fully cloud-based business by the end of 2021, resulting in an action reduction in material consumption in our day-to day operations.

Greenbox Architecture was certified as carbon neutral by Climate Active from 2009 to 2023. Since 2020, we have chosen to make further changes to the business resulting in a 35% reduction in our carbon footprint. In 2021, we decided to calculate our carbon footprint from when we started the business in 2009 and have now through investments in biodiversity projects in the region achieved a carbon neutral certification since 2009.

In 2024, Greenbox decided to move away from this certification and instead invest our time and resources into developing a Greenbox Architecture Sustainability Action Plan that will be more impactful.

We will continue to reach out to the community, provide high quality, environmentally conscious design, and to advocate for better environmental policies and sustainable practices.

We are committed to working proactively with our clients to identify environmental goals and in guiding them in how to achieve them.

Our number one priority has always been the health and well-being of our Team.

Since 2021, we have implemented a hybrid working model that allows our Team to enjoy work-life balance.

Our formal Work From Home policy is inclusive of Work, Health & Safety audits of the home workspace, ensuring our Team is well looked after irrespective of whether they are working from home or our Sydney CBD studio.
